Mission 3: Japan |
Japan is probably the
coolest level in the game, but it's also very difficult. Here you'll be
introduced to ninjas, the most difficult enemies in the game. They're
faster, they use swords, jump off walls and throw unlimited shuriken. The
hair throw won't work on them, nor will the hair grab.
Stick to the Lee brothers as you work your way into
the ninja stronghold. This way
you can attack on both sides using the cyclone kick, which is not possible
with Chin. Use kicks when ninjas get close.
Ninja shuriken prove to be
quite a nuisance. They travel faster than knives and ninjas have
an unlimited supply of these things. Move up or down to avoid them. If you
try to jump over the shuriken, you risk
landing on additional ones that may be flying at you.
One difficult, but fun strategy is
to run and jump kick off the wall to the right. Be careful though
because ninjas are faster and can throw shuriken while you attempt it.
Enter the building after you defeat all of the enemies outside.
This is where players
using turbo pads have the advantage. As soon as you
enter the doors to the stronghold, repeatedly jump right until
the spikes stop piercing the floor. If you have a turbo pad, you
need only hold A and B while pressing the D-pad to the right.
Once you make it past the
spike traps, enemies will begin appearing from hidden panels in the
wall. By this point, if you're playing with a friend, one of you
might be low on energy. Give Chin to the player with the lowest
amount of health. If you're both low on energy, try to have the
stronger player take out the guards with Chin while the weaker player
works on avoiding enemies.
Chin is extremely powerful. His punches can kill opponents after knocking
them down only once. He's also fairly agile with his flying
headbutt attack. But be careful while running because Chin runs
noticeably slower than everyone else, especially ninjas. As
noted before, if the other player is low, Chin should be used to
protect the weaker player.
After defeating all the
enemies in this room, climb the ladder that appears to reach the second
level. Take
out enemies with Chin's attacks and Billy or Jimmy's cyclone kick.
Ranzou will appear after
you
defeat all of the enemies on the second level. He's just like the ninjas you fought
before. Use the Lee brothers' nunchucks and/or Chin's iron
claw. Five hits from either weapon will defeat Ranzou.
