Is it possible to rent a car somewhere in Tanzania?

I’ve never been to Tanzania, or to Africa in general. People say the country has been developing rapidly in recent years, especially in terms of tourism. They’re improving the beaches, offering safari trips, and doing a lot more. I’d love to see it all with my own eyes and take a proper vacation there. I’d rather not rely on local taxis of questionable quality and comfort, so I’m thinking of renting a car instead. Does anyone know where you can rent a decent one there?

It’s definitely not a good idea to go on a safari or photo safari in the savannah on your own. It’s much safer to go in specially equipped vehicles with trained drivers. However, traveling between cities, exploring local cultures, or driving along the coast is fine by car.
