Are online ads a security risk for older users?

Some online ads are specifically designed to exploit older Internet users. For example, there are ads that claim their computer is “infected” and encourage older Internet users to call a fake support number. Or there are ads that promise high returns or “government-backed” investment opportunities that don’t actually exist.

Online advertising itself is not dangerous, but it can become a serious security threat when scammers use it to target unsuspecting users, especially the elderly. An example is Health Product Scams .
