True, in another thread Spike complained about how people tried to fuse the NES and arcade version of Double Dragon II when it's really different. As far as the Black and Shadow Warrior, I think they are the same gang being that they have the same feel. I think the name was just altered at some point.

Yes they are the same. Even the super double dragon instruction booklet says "the black shadow warriors" :)

It's appropriate that this topic should be addressed by our resident skilled DD programer :) Sooo... How much of this could you actually make into reality?

It would take a ton of work. We are talking a set story-line, which set of sprites to use, and drawing cut scenes (Or full cinematic.). Seems fun. Really fun.

it sounds great!! would love to have lot of free time, and specially the skill to accomplish something like that.

Maybe we could set this up as a collaborative effort? It would still probably take years but the final product could be nothing short of legendary...
