Best or favorite rendition of the Double Dragon theme
Exactly what the thread header says. Which game do you think featured the best version of the Double Dragon theme? It can be from any game (including River City Ransom) and any version.
I guess the rendition in the first NES game is the most recognizable, but my personal favorite is the one in the arcade version of DD II. Its hard to believe they used the same YM2151 sound chip they used for the first game, since the music in DD II is such an improvement. I also like the "epic" version they made for the third NES game (the lack of the Double Dragon theme in the arcade version is one of the reasons why it didn't feel like a "true" Double Dragon game)

Re: Best or favorite rendition of the Double Dragon theme
I vote either the NES original or Double Dragon Advance.
Super Double Dragon slowed it down too much and really killed it for me, which is strange since the game got City Slum perfect.
The theme has to be fast in my opinion.

I agree, when comparing, I seem to favor the faster versions. It may have to do with the fact I first started with the NES version though.

Can't say I recognise the NES version as the original, most recognisable or the best. Methinks it's a US / NES fandom thing... I'm going with the first coin-op.

DD Advance, all the way (Although the gameboy DD II came pretty close).
But for me, the definitive DD theme will always be City Slum.

For me, it goes to the first NES Double Dragon, slightly better than the Arcade.

LOL!
Of course, this game only exists in the same universe where Bandersnatch was was released, Rise of the Robots was better than Street Fighter II and the Dreamcast was a massive hit. No, in all seriousness, how's that game doing?
