Double Dragon is covered in the next Retro Gamer...

Post by Steve Halfpenny »

I'm not a subscriber so I won't have a copy until next week. I'll try and get a scan because it'll get about six pages being in the coin-op capers bit but if anyone could erm, beat me to the punch, it'd be appreciated.

Steve, Darran has told me that the original feature has been cut back a lot to fit in the mag but he will send me the full version once the mag is in the shops.

Ah, that's great.

DD was of course covered very well in the old version of RG but it's a nice inclusion. GnG cover looks great too, should be a fun issue.

Note to Mike - Retro Gamer has been out a few weeks already in the UK. The article is okay. Nothing earth shattering but worth checking out. I'm hoping Swainy gets the full thing plus for a Dojo exclusive!

That was a good feature on Double Dragon(thanfully my Barnes and Noble and Fry's Electronics gets every issue of Retro Gamer) however...I recall an even BETTER feature on Double Dragon in Retro Gamer a few years ago, which covered like 8-10 pages of every single game, sequel and port. Anyone know which issue that was?

Yesssss! That be the one! I enjoyed the latest DD feature in retro, but this was the one that really blew my argyle socks off.

Although they don't mention it, I wonder if there had been talks/plans for any side scrolling DD games after Super Double Dragon. Or if there had been other plans or ideas for a third Double Dragon(other than the "Rosetta Stone" one) or if they had had a fourth game in mind besides what we ended up with on the SNES?

While situations like the GB DD2 are easily explained as ports of games with swapped out main characters(ala smb2-doki doki panic, ninja gaiden shadow-wrath of the ninja, etc)...to me a game like Double Dragon 1992 for the Game Gear defies explanation.

Sorry the last feature hasn't been scanned in yet. Swainy asked the editor if we could use it, along with additional material not in the mag, but we're still waiting on it...

Stay tuned.
