David Leitch to be interviewed for Retro Gamer magazine

Post by Steve Halfpenny »

Have a look here - http://www.retrogamer.net/forum/posting ... =1&t=30417

Basically, RG are offering their readers the chance to ask David Leitch questions for an upcoming interview. For those not in the know, Leitch was the young chap who was given the gargantuan task of converting Double Dragon to the Spectrum and balls it up royally. However, he was inexperienced at the time, though this hasn't stopped many DD and Spectrum fans wanting his blood ever since! He actually went on to have a pretty good career; highlights include NARC on the Spectrum, Cool Spot and Mortal Kombat II on the Megadrive / Genesis.

Maybe you can come up with a better question than me. If so, get yourself over to the RG forum.

You know, because I'm an American, I just don't know much about these gaming computers. They never really took off here because of the NES. I didn't even know about them until after I started the Dojo, I think. So there's no way I could come up with any good questions. But hopefully you can come up with some.

I dunno... I've interviewed the guy before and he was a fan of the arcade game. Plus, he ended up doing stuff for the big consoles so it's all relevant.

Oh yeah, the 80's were very different in terms of popular formats depending on which region you lived in. Now the UK is pretty much the 51st State

Yeah, it's actually hard for us to grasp that the NES wasn't very popular over there. It was god-like here.

Oh, I know. I've seen the Wizard ;).

I think it was just because it was so late. Don't get me wrong, some of my friends owned one and I thought Castlevania was awesome. It was just by then we'd already seen arcade quality graphics at home and a lot of NES games looked dated (I think Mario was popular in the arcades mind).
