Ok, haven't been here in a long while as things have been pretty hectic at work BUT I was checking around to see if there was any news about Double Dragon iPhone coming to home systems and I ran across this:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news ... -XBLA.html

I wonder if it's a port of the arcade DD2 or a complete remake of DD2 or, gasp, NES DD2 =O!

It's being published by a German company so I wonder if that means million is out and thus the engine is gonna change?

Either way as I was with DD:i, I'm completely hyped here! Here's to hoping it's coming sooner then later!

I think it'll be the arcade version. Don't quote me as I don't have xbl I just have the wii lol. but I think the nes versions of the games might end up being exclusive. iirc the DD on xbl is the arcade version while the one for the wii is the nes version. Hopefully this means wii vc will FINALLY get DD2 NES.

This is very odd news indeed. Out of all the DD games to remake on put on XBox Live, they choose DDII the arcade game? A game made on Nintendo hardware has never been seen on the live networks, bar the Wii of course, so I doubt it's a NES remake. A PCE remake would be incredible but even more doubtful.

Something doesn't smell right.

Of topic but has anyone else played the remake of the X-Men arcade on XBox Live? Unlimited continues and the game being very linear plus lack of moves and no weapons kill it a bit but for 400 points, it ain't half bad and has been nicely repackaged. Better beat em ups require this treatment.

Don't worry. There is nothing weird going on. Obviously licensing issues would prevent publishers from releasing NES games on Xbox Live Arcade, unless the original game was completely reworked.

The first Double Dragon arcade game was released back in 2007 on Live Arcade, so it's not surprising to see the second game showing up.

I've played X-Men on Live Arcade. Lots of fun. But it's not the same as people having to dump quarters into a cabinet while a group of people cheers you on. It lacks that social aspect. Also, they changed the voice acting. I don't why. But it's not as good as the original.

Unlimited continues can kill games, especially arcade games. They weren't meant to be played like that.

Yeah but it was a different time then. DD was recently very quietly and hardly any games were on XBox Live then (felt like less than ten). I just don't get why they've chosen the second game now of all times, that's all. Hardly any old arcade titles are released now and those that are have a complete overhaul (like the aforementioned X-Men game). A whole new retelling would make more sense.

I do agree about the infinite credits issue though. Too many old games get released like that. It would have been better if you earned credits as you went along; now you can just abuse your mutant powers and not care that your energy runs low. I guess they were going for a high score challenge instead but that's hardly fair when the people at the top will have just walked through it pressing their power button. Shame.

I dunno if you know this but isn't the voice acting now the same as the original pilot from the eighties?

I have no idea who the voice actors are. I just know they recorded new voices for the Xbox Live Arcade release.

I would love to see a full DD game (a new one) on either a handheld or a console. It's strange how the series seems to be stuck on remake mode.

For those who haven't seen it in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPoD0VcV ... dded#at=86

I'm in two minds now. I thought it was kinda ugly at first but it looks much better than most 3D beat em ups in action (better than that lucha thing). And the special moves look quite interesting.

Maybe it'll turn out okay after all.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed with how this looks =( . Will it be a fun beat-em-up? It probably will, but will it be DD-Like? I don't think so.

It reminds me so much of TMNT: RE-Shelled which stripped away way made the arcade version decent (SNES version is by far the best version gameplay-wise, with the arcade version getting points for 4-players) and replaced it with 8-way attacking and pretty much a giant button mashing fest.

This version of the game looks like it could have some depth, what with the "perfect blocking" system, but it just doesn't "feel" like DD. Yes I know I sound kind of like I'm down on it before I've even played it, but it looks so much like fighting force for the ps1.

I dunno, kinda just rambling here, I guess I'm just saying it doesn't look like what I expected.

I'll stick to my thumbies/mini-fling/ipod combination to play a new DD game with actual controls for now...

Though as a DD fan I know I'll buy it regardless =/

I feel the same, it's conflicting on one hand the idea of it all is awesome in concept but it doesn't seem like they executed it very well. :|
