Sup guys, me and a small group of Digital Animation guys are putting together a new DD game.
were using the Unreal Development Kit and were aiming for a post-apocalyptic 80's environment.

we want to make it a GTA style game since that seems to be most popular atm.

heres a first glance at our heroes, any feedback would be much appreciated.
thnx lads.

hey are you guys seriously doing this? i mean, do you have people with the necessary programming and animation skill?
I'd love to help with storyline, ideas, and the like if you do.

Yeah we got the guys with the skills.
we all studied in the same class together.
we also have a few connections to more advanced programmers if we dont have the answer for anything.

were working on ways to work around copyright infringements, since there were so many issues with Double Dragon Forever.

were working very steadily, since its a side project and most of the guys have day jobs. (unfortunately :P)

any help would be much appreciated. like at the moment, some Map Drawings would be great!
weve done some quick sketches of the starting area but thats about it.
we start in a dojo like DDIII (nes) and the outside area of the dojo is going to be much like DDIII aswell.
the area where the camera is in DDIII there will be like a destroyed gas station there.

we want wasteland/deserts in between some of the big cities which will have rebels and stuff.
(similar to Mad Max II)

the Main story will be chasing up leads to find and rescue Marian (or equivalent).
(Damsel in Distress)

heres Abobo (or equivalent)

Map drawings? Huh, I can probably do that, but I'd need to know, how detailed do you need them? What sort of things do you want?
Also, just some thoughts on the character designs
-Billy and Jimmy look good but a bit action figure-ish, might want some work
-Abobo looks amazing, although personally I feel that Abobo should have his mohawk and beard design, and this might be better for Bolo. That's just me though.
In any case, this sounds great. Hopefully it works out legally and whatnot. If you need any help with storyline or ideas generally I'd be glad to help, and I'll see what I can do about the maps.

i have fixed Billy and Jimmy since those renders.
they dont look exactly the same anymore. and their skin doesnt look like plastic.
Jimmy has a different hairstyle and a bit of a different face.
i can get some screenshots up if u like.

for the maps i have a few ideas
wat ever ur happy with doing, you can do like a birdseye view with a few notes showing which building is what.
or you can just do some concept sketches, Toxic waste? Power plant?
i also think all the oceans and any sort of water that you can fall into should be polluted and toxic.
then you can kick some enemies into it :D

I think we should also have a Ninja Temple and Garden in one area for one of the missions.
who wouldnt want to take on a dojo of ninjas right?

also need some ideas on what the save points could look like.
were thinking random shrines around the city. (dragon statue with incense ontop?)

Sure, I'd like to see those screenshots.
I can try and put some sort of map together. Any specific locations you want?
Also, you said you plan on having multiple cities? Any specific existing cities? And just out of curiosity, how would you travel between cities in game?

(i still might make some adjustments to these guys before we bring them into the game engine (UDK).

for the cities, its all upto you just be creative. id personally say 50% existing/50% made up.
in terms of layout, you might have played GTA San Andreas?
thats a really good example of how we want our cities layed out in terms of distance and getting around.

Please pretty please include the red sports car, seen in the garage at the beginning of Double Dragon. I don't know exactly what make it is (or even if its a real make), but it's the one from Data East's Road Blaster.

It'd also be pretty cool, if you included Billy Lewis's red Trans Am, from Rage of the Dragons (which was a tribute to the above one anyway, but still).
