Hi all,

Although I've been enjoying the Double Dragon series of video games for almost thirty years – this week marked the very first time I played Double Dragon II (DDII) for the PC Engine (PCE). DDII PCE is an odd and often overlooked game because it is a port of a port.

Some background...

DDII hit arcades in 1989 and was quickly followed by the very popular Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) port in 1990. The NES port was very different from the arcade version...normally a bad thing...but in this case a smash hit was produced!

In 1993 PCE released their own port of the NES version, adding some of their own changes, as well as bringing back a few of the discarded arcade elements. On the surface this would sound like a terrible idea but the result is another excellent game. Of the almost sixty Double Dragon games reviewed at Double Dragon Dojo ( - DDII PCE is one of just four to receive an A+ rating.

Getting to the point...

DDII PCE contains more cut scenes and story line than most other Double Dragon games. The trouble is the PCE version was a "Japan only" release and no English translation exists. Being an avid Double Dragon fan, I would love to read an English transcript of all the cut scenes.

Cut Scenes Part 1:

Cut Scenes Part 2 (includes Hard Mode ending):

Normal Mode Ending:

Easy Mode Ending:

I am posting here in the hope that someone reading this might enjoy the task of creating an English transcript for this very special game. If that is possible, I know there are plenty of Double Dragon fans, as well as PC Engine fans who would love to access the translation.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear back.
