Replaying DDi...on a bigger higher end Android

Been replaying "DDi" on a bigger new higher end Android phone, and the difference is quite stark from when it originally came out. That and some of the quirks seemed to be ironed out(tho how many companies did the game change hands since million and bow wow?) I notice not a single glitch or hickup with the control scheme or mechanics. Runs very smoothly.
Even the graphics look a little sharper. On a tablet(to me) it seems to enlarged obviously.
Though, overall the graphics still seem a little darker/muddy than DD1/DD2. That was my biggest complaint about DDA from 2003(the muddy color palette)
And it kind of throws me how the levels aren't connected like in the original. I'd almost consider DDi a sequel to DDA, even though it's more a direct sequel to that obscure
Brazillian system(would love to play an emulated version of that)
Unfortunately I worry DDi from 2011 may be the last real new 2d Double Dragon game. And I have no interest in Neon or Wanderer.
But overall I love it. It's a bit fast and short. But I love the fluidity. Love the combos and moves. How it still keeps the pixel vibe. LOVE how you can keep playing to rank up/earn exp and unlock a ton of characters. I like the remixed levels and the two new ones. LOVE the "second form" willy which is a nice touch. And love the ending animation, and the tease of a new boss(which I doubt we'll see, as Im guessing it didnt make enough money and or changed company hands to warrant a sequel)
In a way, I kind of see the official DD timespan as:
DD1(1987) >> DD2(1988) >> DD3(1990) >> SDD(1992) >> DD Neo Geo(1995) >> DDA(2003) >> DDi(2011)
