Yes, it really did exist! It was a rare exclusive port on the Atari Amstrad upgrade for the Bulgarian version of the Famicom. Every once in a blue moon, floppies of this will show up on ebay, pullling in sick, SICK prices!
I remember when I was a kid, all of my friends would talk about this rumor that if you killed Car-nuff, the first boss, with only pickle shurikens without getting hit, and ducked 364 times over his face if you happened to kill him in front of the mail box, you would open up the secret Statue of Liberty stage. And, if you were able to defeat all the enemies on that stage without losing the sausage links weapon, and impaled the boss on the 3rd spike of liberties crown, have both players hold select, and hit reset 13 times, you would unlock the hidden character: Presidente Ray-gun. Supposedly, he has unlimited burgers, has maxed out power, speed, etc. and shoots screen clearing nukes as his special attack.
I remember seeing an old Beta tape that my Uncle recorded, where he was able to pull this very trick off! The only problem is that the game gets extremely buggy, and has a tendency to crash when you beat the Iron Ayatollah of Rock-en-Rollah.
....anyone else remember this? I'm so pumped that this has resurfaced on Youtube!!!
