3DS - Who's getting one?

Post by DojoMaster »

Alright, I always ask these questions when a new console is launched, so let's dive right in. Who's stepping up to the pate and picking up one of these bad boys?

I preordered mine (Black version) but I don't know if I'm picking up any launch titles. I want Kid Icarus and of course Mario Kart, but those won't release at the same time as the system. It's very odd for me to pick up a system without a game. I've never done it before.

Anyone else getting one, or are you waiting for a specific game before taking the plunge? (I know, I know, might as well wait for Contra or Castlevania, but the systems might still be sold out when those games arrive.)

Unsure as of now.

I haven't bothered with my DS for years. I think I've had it with handheld gaming. But the 3D angle could sway me.

Still loving Donkey Kong Country Returns to care right now!

Oh man, Donkey Kong is the bomb. I haven't had this much fun doing two-player since, well, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Just like the good old NES days (and Double Dragon).

I think it blows New Super Mario Bros away just for the fact that I haven't argued with my girlfriend over dying because of her... yet! ;)

Seriously though, glad you're liking it. I think it's the best 2 player platformer in eons. Possibly, ever.

I think it makes more sense to use this thread for 3DS brawlers than to make new threads. This game was released on November 14, 2013 in North America via eShop. Europe and Australia will receive the digital and physical release next year. The game was developed by Tamsoft, maker of such games as Tokyo Beat Down on Nintendo DS and the two Ikki Tousen games on Sony PSP. The game seems to play more like the second Ikki Tousen game on PSP, Xross Impact, where characters can perform air combos and really long combos that can link into super moves. The game is also really wrong because your characters also suffer clothing damage if they take too many hits, but Dynamite Cop did that as well. I really enjoyed the Ikki Tousen games on PSP, so I definitely want this game if it plays similarly.
Sometimes losing is more fun than winning.
