Re: RetroGamer #103: The Making of Double Dragon

Man I so need to get this. And hmmm, to think DD may have just been another Kunio game(no offense to fans of that series, but there's so many games as it is) I am surprised even Japan never got another "Renegade" game in arcades. Target Renegade and the gosh awful "Renegade III" ...

Re: Pix 'n Love to publish Authorized Kishimoto biography

Does anyone know if there was merchandise/promo items in the last decade or so that featured a nostalgia theme like this for DD? Loving this... http://omakebooks.com/WordPress/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Yoshihisa_Kishimoto_Sign-e1337071235891.jpg I don't even recall promo stuff for DDA

Re: Double Dragon Neon

Gah, fond memories of Deka/Die Hard and Deka 2/Dynamite Cop in arcades. Mid to late 90's were pretty much the last throws of the arcades in my area. I knew it was coming to an end so I lived it up. A lot of times I feel 3d beat em ups don't feel right, but for some reason I really enjoyed the Deka g...

Re: Pix 'n Love to publish Authorized Kishimoto biography

There's a documentary? Whoah. I hope Enter the Double Dragon gets subtitled and put online! I want this so bad(as much as I love the Retrogamer articles over the years on DD), but it pains me to know I wouldn't understand a lick of it. Is there really that many French speaking Double Dragon series f...

Re: Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

Man you find the most amazing rarities. Have you been able to find any promotional or rarer DD2(arcade, Famicom, etc) art?(posters, ads, phone cards, manuals, etc) Most I've seen is the Billy/Jimmy fending off people cover(which doesn't make sense as Marian is still alive) Also was there any promoti...

Re: Double Dragon EX

Do they have emulators for (Im assuming, this is a java file?) this particular phone? Would love to play DDEX someday, as I love the look of it.

Re: What would like to see in a new Double Dragon game?

To be honest, I liked Double Dragon 3 on the NES. It wasn’t as good as two, but it was still enjoyable. It seemed that in DD3 they did take a step back. DD2 was so robust and amazing that when 3 came out, it was a disappointment to a lot of people. And I too love the Neo Geo version. I always wonde...

Re: Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

Heh, I wouldn't doubt if the backstory came later. I have to say though, I do love the Japanese Famicom/NES illustrations of the characters more than the odd squatty looking art from the Japanese arcade flyers circa 1987. I love that Chibi look though! Reminds me of these two gems http://img339.imag...

Re: Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

Dude! Thanks so much. I'm seriously loving this thread. In fact I am reminded of the first time I had heard the names and backstory of the DD1 characters. It was April of 1988, I was in fourth grade and my classmate next to me pulled out Nintendo Fun Club magazine and showed me the article. While I ...

Re: What would like to see in a new Double Dragon game?

Well I am grateful for DDi. Probably the last time we'll get a new 2d DD experience. I just personally feel the series went off the rails with DD3 and didn't really recover. In a way I'm strangely right with Angry Video Game Nerd in his series overview. I hated DD3 on the NES, though consider it the...
