Re: Streets of Rage 2 opinions...

Dean doesn't really look that much of an Axel Stone clone. If anything, Axel's more of a Cody clone and I always thought of Cody and Guy as Capcom's answer to Billy and Jimmy. Even Yoshiki Okamoto admitted that Final Fight was partly inspired by Double Dragon in an old Gamespot interview. The popula...

Re: Observation about DD on XBox Live

It has nothing to do with popularity at all. Empire Interactive, the publisher of the Xbox Live Arcade version, went out of business around this time last year. As for TMNT: The Arcade Game, it still appears on the official site as "TMNT 1989 Arcade". Maybe you're searching using the wrong...

Re: Question - Did Jeff ever use weapons on the arcade version?

To answer the thread title, no he didn't. Neither did the mohawk Abobo. They could in DD2.

Re: MSX version - I don't buy it...

Its a definite bootleg. The developers were a South Korean game developer that did several bootlegs games for the MSX, including an unlicensed port of SMB1.

Re: Find of the day... (DD arcade review from back in the day!)

I don't think any of the enemy characters from the arcade games were officially named (or least publicly revealed) until the home versions. In fact, the only sources I could found that the gave the names of the enemy characters from the arcade games were the manuals for the Master System and Mega Dr...

Re: Unproduced Double Dragon TV pilot

Popular games from the 80s that are still in the mainstream never really went away (Mario, etc). I too cannot think of a real return that did really well (I'm sure there is some argument for SF4 but it has always had its fans desperately awaiting the next installment and the lengthy period without ...

Re: Machines that Double Dragon never appeared on...

(random thought - did DD ever appear on any of the Japanese computers?). Now for the not so obvious... No. Double Dragon only came out for the following platforms in Japan. Arcade (I, II, III, Neo-Geo) Family Computer (I, II, III) Game Boy (I only, II was actually a Kunio-kun game) Super Famicom (R...

Re: Hey guys! NES - DD3 - Sacred Stones help

I discovered the "trick" by accident as well. You can deflect projectile weapons (like the Italian fighters' spears) with your kicks by using either Lee brother or Chin (you can use the nunchucks as well). Sometimes when you deflect a weapon, it will drop to the ground and stay there for a...

Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

I know it's strange to bring this up after all this time, but I really never found an official source confirming the names of the enemy characters in the arcade version of the first Double Dragon outside the KLOV entry for the game and as some of you may know, KLOV features mostly user-submitted inf...

Re: Double Dragon Neon

There was also a PS2 port released under the Sega Ages label that came out only in Japan. It even had an optional mode that causes the two player characters to dress up as Ax and Tyris from Golden Axe (the Dynamite Deka series was made by the same creator). Going back on topic, here's a new preview ...
