Re: Double Dragon (Neo Geo) character designs
To be honest, I always thought Double Dragon NG was just an unrelated fighting game that Technos changed halfway during development to turn it into a Double Dragon movie tie-in. Its likely Technos saw Tradewest's work with Double Dragon V and decided "we can do that too". I don't know what...

Re: Double Dragon (Neo Geo) character designs
Marian's hair color seems to vary between brown and blond in the Neo-Geo game. She's a brunette during gameplay, but in the official art she's clearly a blonde (as well as in her ending). I think the flier art for Double Dragon II was commissioned before they even made the game. Billy and Jimmy are ...

Re: Combatribes coming to the Virtual Console
I think Combatribes was made before Double Dragon 3, or at the very least came out first. I remember seeing a scan of the game from some magazine archives calling Combatribes an "unofficial Double Dragon 3". They both run on the same engine at least. Oddly enough, Kishimoto had nothing to ...

Best or favorite rendition of the Double Dragon theme
Exactly what the thread header says. Which game do you think featured the best version of the Double Dragon theme? It can be from any game (including River City Ransom) and any version. I guess the rendition in the first NES game is the most recognizable, but my personal favorite is the one in the a...

Double Dragon prototypes
m I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but Skrybe's site has roms of various prototype and beta versions of NES games. There's betas of the first two DD games there, as well as a beta of Super Spike V'Ball. The DD1 beta is the most interesting, as it has the most differences between it and th...

Re: Double Dragon prototypes
There's no 2-players mode in the beta as far as I know. From my understanding, the reason why most NES versions of most arcade games were different is because they were often made at the same time as the arcade versions and by different teams. I know the NES version of DD III was made at the same ti...

Re: Did I beat the game or not?
Technically, the only Double Dragon game where beating the final boss with both characters actually matters is Double Dragon Advance (the GBA one), since the ending actually changes if you get the last fight between the two brothers. In the arcade versions, it doesn't matter whether you beat it alon...

Another difference between Super Double Dragon and Return
As some of you already know, Return of Double Dragon, the Japanese version of Super Double Dragon, has quite a few differences from its western counterpart. One difference I don't see mentioned that much is in the characters' moves. In both versions, Billy and Jimmy has a different set of punches: a...

Re: TMNT Arcade Attack Is Apparently Garbage
From what I heard, they didn't even bother getting the same team that made TMNT for the GBA (which seems to be the only decent post-revival TMNT game made) to make Arcade Attack. I didn't really have that much hope for the game when I saw the graphics. I don't know why many DS developers insist on u...

Scans from the Game Boy Player Guide
I downloaded scans of the Game Boy Player's Guide published by Nintendo Power in 1991. Its really nothing special to be honest, at least compared to some of their other guides, but still packs quite a few original art. As a matter of fact, the Double Dragon section of the guide has original artwork ...
