I guess the latest Retro Gamer revealed all in a round about way. Empire Interactive went bankrupt last year (as some of you know) and so, all of their games, including Speedball 2 amongst others, were removed from XBox Live last summer. Just had a thought... You know, Dean may in fact be a reference to Axel from SoR. Capcom have a tendency to do that (like with Dan Hibiki in Street Fighter being a parody of SNK characters). Never heard this before though.

Originally it was made to compensate for a lack of Final Fight on the MD. Lots of enemies even look the same.

You are right about FF3 though.
