Re: Mark III version of Double Dragon
My translation of the Mark III manual. Story New York, 199X. A city ruled by violence after the Nuclear War, where politics and law no longer mattered. It has reached the point where people formed gangs in order to survive. On the outskirts of the city lived twin brothers named Jimmy and Billy Lee. ...

Re: Double Dragon II box differences?
A lot of localized versions of many SNES beat-'em-ups had their female enemies replaced or removed for some reason. At some point Nintendo of America became uptight about the depiction of violence against women in their games. It wasn't just the transvestites in the first Final Fight, but the female...

Re: Double Dragon Remake Coming to iPhone and iPod Touch
I read Lavis' bio from the Japanese website and it doesn't mention her sex. I seriously doubt this is another Poison issue, but a simple translation mistake. The Japanese language doesn't rely on gender-specific pronouns as much as English does and it seems likely the translator wrote the text witho...

Double Dragon 3 arcade superplay
Here's a video of a player completing the U.S. version of Double Dragon 3 in one credit. The most impressive about this playthrough is that not only does the player completes the game without buying any of the power-ups (naturally, since otherwise this wouldn't be a real 1CC), but he does it without...

Original Sound of Double Dragon
The following is my translation of Yoshihisa Kishimoto's commentary on the development of the arcade version of Double Dragon as featured on the liner notes of Apollon's Double Dragon soundtrack album. I actually saw a transcription of the Kishimoto's commentary years ago on Game Kommander's website...

Post your Double Dragon II arcade scores here.
Does anyone else here play any of the Double Dragon games for score? I personally think the arcade version of Double Dragon II is a pretty good game to play for score due to how it was designed. The game's factory settings (as listed on the operator's manuals, which are different from MAME's default...

Re: Post your Double Dragon II arcade scores here.
According to the November 2003 issue of Arcadia Magazine, the highest score recorded for the arcade version of Double Dragon II belongs to Nal-Ryo with a score of 324,280 points. The list doesn't specify the cabinet's settings though (it's probably easier if he was playing with more than two lives),...

Re: Double Dragon II: Wanderer of the Dragons Cyclone Xbox36
I saw the video for this game months ago and wasn't too impressed either. My big question is why they went through the trouble of creating a "remake" of the Double Dragon II arcade game that only vaguely resembles the game is supposed to be based on. Why not just drop the roman numeral &qu...

Re: Double Dragon Neon
The only WayForward game I've ever played was Contra 4 and I thought it was pretty entertaining, if a bit overrated. I'm not digging the pseudo-retro character designs though. Seems too corny for Double Dragon (give me the Hokuto no Ken/Warriors-inspired character designs from the arcade and NES gam...

Re: Double Dragon Neon
Honestly, the game doesn't look that hot to me. The fact that they're citing Castle Crashers as the "gold standard" of modern brawlers of all things doesn't bode well for me considering Castle Crashers isn't even that great of a game. I'm guessing all those old belt-scrollers (not just arc...
