Re: Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

The very first issue of Nintendo Power had colorized versions of the character illustrations. While most likely the colorization was done by some in-house artist employed by the editorial staff and not by Technos, I was always curious why they colored Billy with red clothes and Jimmy with blue cloth...

Re: Double Dragon Neon

New screenshots from Majesco's site. Looks like they redid the HUD a bit. Almost every new enemy shown there seems to be a skin-swap though (kinda lazy to be honest).

Re: RetroGamer #103: The Making of Double Dragon

Double Dragon was planned as a Kunio-kun sequel, but Kishimoto didn't want to spent too much time working on a separate overseas version like he did with Renegade, so he made a game that could be marketable everywhere.

Re: Double Dragon Neon

There was also a PS2 port released under the Sega Ages label that came out only in Japan. It even had an optional mode that causes the two player characters to dress up as Ax and Tyris from Golden Axe (the Dynamite Deka series was made by the same creator). Going back on topic, here's a new preview ...

Re: RetroGamer #103: The Making of Double Dragon

I've merged Halfpenny's and Swainy's threads, since they were both about RetroGamer #103. Anyway... Double Dragon mainly came to be because during the last few days of Kunio Kun the development team suddenly realised that it would be fun if the player could pick up and use the enemies weapons but th...

Re: Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

Most of the images I have are stuff I found online through auction sites and other websites, so unfortunately a lot of the stuff I don't personally own (I do have complete copies of the DD2 and DD3 Famicom games, as well as the Super Famicom and PC Engine versions). There's flyers for each of the Do...

Re: Pix 'n Love to publish Authorized Kishimoto biography

Here's Florent's latest blog post, which contains a video of Kishimoto signing out the cards for the limited edition of the book. m New samples pages have also been uploaded in the link I've posted on the previous reply. In one of the pages Kishimoto talks about the Master System version of the firs...

Re: Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

I have to say though, I do love the Japanese Famicom/NES illustrations of the characters more than the odd squatty looking art from the Japanese arcade flyers circa 1987. Yeah, the flyer art was drawn by the game's sprite designer, who didn't have much experience drawing outside bitmaps, while the ...

Re: Clarifying the Abobo and Bolo mix-up

Kishimoto more or less admitted to Pix'n Love that his team pretty much made up the arcade version's back-story after the fact when explaining why Billy and Jimmy fought over Marian at the end of the game. Exactly when he wrote the back-story I have no clue (the Double Dragon soundtrack is earliest ...

Re: Pix 'n Love to publish Authorized Kishimoto biography

m Pix'n Love has just announced that, in addition to the standard release of the book, there will also be a limited-edition that comes with a personally-autographed card signed by Kishimoto himself (limited to 600 copies), a DVD of the Enter the Double Dragon special and a CD containing music from R...
